Personal Logo

This is where it began. With no previous design training, I opened up my water colour paint set, pencil crayons and began to design a personal logo for my EDST 1230U Design Think and Visual Design course.

The beginning of the planning process…

The designing process…

Final Design

The creation of my personal logo followed all the steps in the design framework. Ask, Imagine, Plan, Create, Test, and Improve. I began by identifying the purpose of the design and brainstorming ideas. I used a human-centered approach, making sure the logo met my personal needs. An iterative method was followed, with improvements made through testing and changes so it could work in different forms of media. In my slide presentation, I combined visuals with a spoken explanation, thus following Mayer’s Modality and Multimedia Principles.  This logo follows Mayer’s principle of Signaling by keeping it simple and easy to understand. The spatial Contiguity Principle was followed by keeping the word and the images grouped together, helping the audience connect the two. The choice of symbols reflects personal meaning. My logo design was chunked into smaller segments. Each circle represents a value. Academic or life-long learning, exercise and adventure, kindness towards others and working with children, swimming represents a rebirth, growth and determination. Finally, the word resilience represents a reminder to keep bouncing back from adversity.
