Website Critique

  • Paddling Magazine

The Paddling Magazine website is colorful and exciting, immediately catching readers' attention. It uses pictures, videos, and concise text. This aligns well with  Mayer's Multimedia Principle. Clear titles and bold fonts help guide the reader while supporting the Signaling Principle. There is evidence of images that show movement due to the photography and the ability to capture the paddler in motion.  However, there is a lot of  content on the main page, which can be distracting.  It would help to remove them and place them within the menu. Simplifying navigation and increasing white space would improve the user's experience.  The website effectively uses color and organized visual elements to structure the content. Overall, the website is helpful, but a few minor changes could make it even better.

  • Chews

The Chews Raw Website is clean and easy to navigate. Using simple fonts, lots of white space, and a unified design layout. The menu is simple and easy to use, making it easy to find the products you are looking for. This follows Mayer's Coherence Principle by keeping it uncluttered. There is evidence of repetition to unify by using the color green. Unfortunately, the long list of products could benefit from improved chunking and signaling. Using collapsible menus would help enhance user experience, make the website more engaging, and support Mayer's Coherence Principle. While the site is functional, some minor improvements could improve user' interaction.

  • Vintage Trailer Supply

The Vintage Trailer Supply website is friendly and easy to navigate. It contains warm colors, and the texture stands out when it shows images that appear to be looking through a screen window. There is variety as they use different media types, such as images, text, and icons. The website could be improved by removing some images and extra words. This would help the reader focus their attention. This would improve the Coherence Principle. Overall, the website's design elements and principles combine to create a fun, simple website.
